In 1898 Hans Deuter founded his company and began sewing sacks and mailbags out of sailcloth and linen.  His first major projects were making beer tents for the Munich Oktoberfest and supplying the German military with backpacks.  As the company grew Deuter began equipping expeditions and since then they have focused on creating superior performing equipment without sacrificing their company values of environmental integrity.
