Helle Kletten Kebony

Small, dark and handsome: this is Helle's Kletten pocket-sized knife with folding blade, but made in a darker material called kebony. Since darker woods are not common in the northern forests where Helle sources it's materials they use kebony, a Norwegian innovation whereby wood is stabilized using waste biomass, making traditional northern woods denser and darker in the process. It will age just like wood - graying if left to the elements, or maintaining it's rich dark colour if treated regularly with oil.

Helle is a third generation family business that has been making knives in Holmedal Norway since 1932. The traditionally styled knives are each unique as they are made of natural materials such as curly grained birch, and the triple laminated stainless steel  blades with high alloy steel cores are each finished by hand.
